Beth Costello Shares Powerful Story of Her Son’s Legacy and the Gift of Organ Donation at LifeSource All-Team Meeting

“On October 23rd we had the pleasure of welcoming Beth Costello to our all-team meeting! We had the opportunity to hear her powerful connection to donation and were presented with a generous gift raised through the Thomas A Costello Legacy Foundation, which was founded to carry on the legacy of her son, who became an organ donor in 2021.

Thomas was intelligent, compassionate, resilient and had an incredible work ethic. He was so many things, but above all, he was kind. 

In October of 2012 he was diagnosed with Stage 3B Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He approached the diagnosis with, “Ok, what is the game plan so that I can beat this cancer?” 

The game plan worked and in February of 2013 he was in remission, with a new zest for life and passion to make the most of it. During this time, he had many conversations with his family about life, including his decision to become an organ donor one day when he passed away. 

When Thomas unexpectedly passed away in 2021, the decision to move forward with donation was a ‘no brainer’ for his family. During a time of grief and immense sadness, they didn’t have to question if it’s what he would have wanted – they had the comfort of knowing they already talked about it. Beth and her family continue to share the importance of having conversations about your decision with loved ones.
